Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Staten Island with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in New York may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 10 am–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Verrazano Seafood at (718) 815-9589; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 13 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Staten Island is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Staten Island is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Their prices are insane!!!!!!!! Go to Canal Street in Manhattan and save yourself over 60% of what these crooks charge.

Be very careful when ordering. He will charge you before he actually gives you the fish. He will weigh it whole, have you pay for it, then filet it afterwards and charge you for the weight of a whole fish. Smh.

They are racist. I went there yesterday ten minutes before closing time, and they told me they were closed and refused to sell to me. They didn't even want me to look around. After I walked out, someone else walked in and was served. I would never spend my money there.
